Spring 2012 Auditons

INTERESTED DANCERS: We will be hosting auditions on April 21st and 22nd. Those who make the team at these auditions will participate in about 3 dance intensives throughout the summer (as well as possible fundraising and performance opportunities.) Auditions will be held again in September, but this is an awesome time for dancers to become acquainted with the team and their teammates before the "real" season starts. Keep your eyes pealed around campus and in your Campus Newsnet for additional information. Auditions will be held late morning early afternoon both days. Dance Team Update: March 2012

Hey Alverno Dance Team Fans! Here’s the scoop on what we’ve been up to.

Over the past six weeks the ladies have been perfecting two routines, a jazz routine and hip hop routine, and they are going to have the opportunity to showcase the dances to their friends and family on Friday, March 23^rd at 7:00 PM in the Christopher Hall auditorium. There will also be a short awards show during that time where the dancers will be awarded in areas such as best technique, most enthusiastic, sweetest personality, et cetera. Following the showcase and awards the famous Alverno dancers will be around to mix and mingle with their family, friends, and guests. J

On Sunday, March 25^th the ladies will be judging the St. Catherine’s High School Dance Team dance competition ! Following the competition our dancers will have the opportunity to strut their stuff once more by performing both routines.

This year our team has done an amazing job fundraising for uniforms and competitions and building the dance program as a whole. Our current dancers have made it through thick and thin, and I’m very proud of what they have accomplished in our first year together.

A special congratulations to you ladies! Angela, Anna, Breanna, Chantal “Cherry”, Ellie, Mariela, and Sha’Boris.

Competition!

Tomorrow is our first competition as a team! We are taking 7 dancers down to Chicago for the UDA Collegiate Dance Competition. We are all excited to see what's going to happen, and we truly hope this snow stops by then. Pictures and video will be uploaded soon. Wish us luck.

INFERNO HEAT DANCE TEAM SPRING 2012 AUDITIONS

Auditions will be held in the Reiman Gymnasium on Alverno's campus Sunday, December 11th from 6:30-9:30PM. Dancers will learn a routine and perform it in front of a panel of judges the day of.

What do I have to do to be on the dance team?
- Be available for all Sunday and Thursday evening practices (6:30-9:30PM).
- Be available to compete at the UDA Dance Competition in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, January 21st 2012.
- Come to practice with a good attitude.
- Must be a full-time Alverno College student.
- Must be willing to help fundraise in order to maintain the team's budget.
- Be willing and able to learn and try new things!

What do I need to know for auditions?
- Bring water and a small snack if needed.
- Wear dance shoes and black dance pants or shorts as well as a solid-colored top.
- You will be taught a routine at auditions.
- One must be able to do a solid single pirouette (preferably a double), a basic front leap, a toe touch/Russian, and willing/able to learn more advanced technique.
